The partners of P&C decided early on that a successful
private banking business must combine three primary qualities:
strong business ethics, excellence in client relationships
and sound judgement based on a lifetime in the business.
My role as Managing Director of P&C is to optimise the
multi-disciplinary infrastructure and culture for P&C's
partners and clients to benefit from them.

Born in 1955, Iain is Scottish and Managing Director of P&C. Iain has spent nearly two
decades in the Swiss private banking world.
After studies at Cambridge University (MA Hons) and the College of Law in London, Iain
started his merchant banking career with KLEINWORTH BENSON in Hong Kong and London,
working in corporate finance, commercial banking and private client investment management.
In 1983, Iain joined PICTET & CIE in Geneva, and was joint founder of their private client
company in London, PICTET ASSET MANAGEMENT UK LIMITED, In 1987 Iain took charge of
international investment for PICTET's Tokyo office where he experienced at first hand the
biggest equity bull and bear markets in history.
In 1991, Iain returned to London to
manage and build up PICTET's UK private clients business.
In 1995 he left PICTET to become a partner in BLAKENEY MANAGEMENT,
a London-based investment manager specialising
in listed and private equity investment in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa,
travelling widely in French-speaking West Africa and the Maghreb.
Iain joined EDINBURGH FUND MANAGERS in 1998 as Director responsible for their European investment
management business. As a result of this, in 2000 he co-founded P&C and moved his family
from Scotland to Zurich to act as Managing Director of the new company.
Iain speaks English and French and basic Russian and Japanese. He is learning German.
